Peopletracer has initiated its data integration of this year’s UK Electoral Roll. Key to its online people tracing facility, the data permits the most recent consumer information to be searched within its searching software.
The electoral canvass delivers the most accurate overview of the UK's population and is deployed within Peopletracer’s online service; used by individuals and small businesses to help search for friends, family or customers.
UK electoral data exists in two formats, the 'full' Electoral Roll, containing the entire electorate and must only be employed under strict guidelines. The 'edited' version includes those that have decided not to opt out and may be used for varying commercial activities.
On the 10th June 2014, Individual Electoral Registration will be introduced in England and Wales, paving the way for online registration. The current system allows the head of the household to register electors who live at the same address, however the new process will make it easier and more convenient for individuals to safeguard their right to vote, each providing their own unique identifiers, such as National Insurance number and date of birth, so that their information can be verified.
It is the Government’s objective to expand voter participation, improve the integrity of the electoral system and furthermore reduce fraud. Failure to provide the required information to an Electoral Registration Officer is a criminal offence, punishable by a £1000 fine and a criminal record.
Peopletracer now has 13 years of Electoral Roll information within its data banks and has accumulated millions upon millions of records over the years. Data is continually updated to ensure the search facility has the most beneficial information possible.
Paul Weathersby, Peopletracer's Technical Director, commented on the latest data integration, "We strive to be the first to upload the newly released Electoral Roll data every year. The more current the data we provide, the better the results our consumers receive. They demand the most current and authoritative residency data available and we are committed to constantly update our data."
