Old school friend traced 25 years after losing touch

Posted on Friday 12th October 2012

Ashley needed help to find his old school friend and neighbour Tim, who he lost contact with in the 1980's. This happened because Tim and his family had moved several times, from East Sussex to Watford and then on to the West Midlands.

Fortunately, Ashley knew the year of Tim's birth so a search of Peopletracer.s online GRO Birth Indexes revealed a second initial. This was rather limiting as Tim had a common surname and according to the online electoral roll, there were several Timothy's with the very same second initial and surname.

But the search didn.t stop there when attention had turned to searching for Tim.s parents instead. Ashley knew that Tim's father had an unusual first name and as the family lived next door when Ashley and Tim were friends, he also knew their full address. So the Local Studies Library was contacted which hold the electoral rolls for the 1980's and were able to provide proof of the first names for Tim's parents.

With this new information, a quick search of Peopletracer.s online people search revealed Tim's parents were living together at a new address in the West Midlands. A letter soon followed explaining that Ashley wanted to contact their son Timothy, and by return post they replied providing Tim's address and explaining what fond memories they had of Ashley.

The friends are now back in touch and reminiscing about their childhood, having a good few laughs!
