Not all tracing stories have a happy ending.

Maureen wanted to find her old friends Teddy and his sister Millie from their childhood spent in Hornsey, North London.

Maureen continues to live in North London and over the years has come across relatives of her old childhood friends. However, it was only recently after seeing Teddy in several old school photographs that she was prompted to start the search in earnest. Having come to a dead end with her initial search, Maureen sought help from Peopletracer.

Maureen had already written to several people with the same name as Teddy but had no luck. Maureen had also checked the GRO Indexes revealing both their birth entries and then their marriage entries resulting in a new surname for Millie and a christian name for Teddy's wife.

Peopletracer.s online electoral rolls revealed that Teddy and his wife had an address in Cornwall including a telephone number. Sadly, Maureen discovered that Teddy had passed away 10 years earlier.

There was some consolation though, as Teddy's widow was able to give Maureen an address for Millie and this was confirmed with another search on Peopletracer.

We hope that Maureen and Millie are now in touch again after 70 years!
