Long lost cousins reunite after 50 years

Posted on Wednesday 18th January 2012

Elaine* had spent a long time finding out what happened to her father Tommy* who she last saw in 1959 when she was only 10 years' old. Sadly she found out her father had passed away, but her research had made her think about her childhood.

Elaine had lost contact with her two cousins who she had spent a lot of time with as a child and wanted to try and find them. She only knew their christian names but fortunately her father's death certificate showed his sister, Mary*, was the informant and gave her surname.

Using the information available a GRO Birth Index search was carried out to confirm the names for Elaine's cousins. Once this had been confirmed a family search was performed using Peopletracer's Electoral Roll data and addresses were found for both Elaine's cousins.

Elaine is now in touch with one of her cousins after 50 years and can now begin to find more information about her late father's life. *Surnames have been withheld for privacy reasons
